Emmy Winners

It is a great honor to be nominated for an Emmy as it recognizes your hard work and dedication to the television industry. For those who are lucky enough to win, it is a symbol that they are considered to be the best in the industry. It is a very honorable award that is taken very seriously in this business.

The Emmy awards are divided into different categories with usually five nominees in each category from which the ultimate winner is selected. These categories include Best Comedy, Best Drama, Best Comedy Actor, Best Comedy Actress, Best Drama Actor, and Best Drama Actress. There are also various Emmy categories for supporting roles.

Winning an Emmy was very difficult and well reserved for Susan Lucci in 1999. She plays the beautiful villain Erica Kane on the daily soap opera All My Children. In 1999 she was nominated for the 19th time in a row for an Emmy. This is a very high honor when you think about how many times she had been in the top five contenders. However, she had never won one. She was continually looked upon as the person with the Emmy Curse.

Many people in the television industry could not believe she was nominated year after year but never won. She was terrific in her role and while she was always happy to be nominated, it quickly became a let down she wanted to forget. It wasn’t uncommon for every Emmy hype show to make this information known over and over again to the public. In fact, it was rumored that stakes were placed on her winning in Las Vegas the year she finally won the Emmy.

Lucci herself was surprised more than anyone when she was announced as the Emmy winner for best actress. In fact, she had not written an acceptance speech in preparation that year or for many years before. As she rose to get her Emmy she got a standing ovation from the crowd of her peers who knew how much winning it meant to her and how much she deserved it. However, the winning streak for Lucci was short lived as she has not won another Emmy and she has not been nominated for the role she continues to play on All My Children since 2001.
