Emmy Award History

The Emmys are the very popular award show that
almost wasn’t. This particular award show to honor the many aspects
of television almost got passed up by the Academy. Ironically, it
has become one of the most popular award shows ever will millions
of people watching it take place each year. The before shows that
talk about the nominees as well as the interviews with the winners
after the show get lots of attention from viewers as well. The Emmy
Awards have taken place each year since 1949 and continue to grow
in popularity.
Many people wonder where the name Emmy comes
from. It is actually a nickname for the term image orthicon tubes
because they were very commonly used in television cameras at that
time. The statute chosen for Emmy winners shows a beautiful winged
lady holding up atom to symbolized upholding the art and science of
television.
Many people don’t realize that there are many
categories of Emmy’s given out each year. Most of us are only
family with the ones that revolve around daytime Emmy’s and
Primetime Emmy’s. In addition there are sports Emmy’s, technology
and engineering Emmy’s, International Emmy’s, and regional Emmy’s.
Many of these other Emmy award shows are not aired but you can find
out about the show, the nominees, and the winners on the
internet.
The Academy takes great pride in offering many
great benefits to the television industry behind the scenes. They
help with career guidance, internships for students, provide
classes to help enhance skills, and work hard to provide diversity
in television programming. Another aspect of the Academy is to
preserve the history behind the television industry including the
very popular Emmy Awards that millions of people tune in for each
year.
For those in the television industry, they know
the competition is very tough. It is a very exciting time to just
be nominated for an Emmy, but it means so much when one is actually
won. It is not uncommon for daytime Emmy winners to soon find
themselves being offered opportunities in feature films. Since that
is the goal of many in the film industry, willing an Emmy is often
considered a meal ticket to a better career.
